GENERAL INFORMATION

TRADING STATION
Purchasing and selling ship components or other items can be done through a trading station. Once you are in the same sector as a trading station, use the comms and hailing screens to access the trade window. You can install components in your cargo through the “Install Components” window offered by both the trading station and repair depot.

REPAIR DEPOT

The repair depot can repair any hull damage your ship acquires during your voyages. In order to repair the hull, the Pilot must first maneuver the ship into center of the repair depot. The Engineer can then disable the ship’s shields by pulling the rightmost lever on the startup switchboard in the engineering room. See the “Ship Startup Sequence” for more details. After the shields are disabled, the Captain can choose an option for repair via the comms and hailing screens.

LONG RANGE WARP STATION

The long range warp station is a quick and efficient way to traverse long distances that far outreach the standard warp drive. No fuel is needed to jump using a warp station. Instead you are required to pay a toll.

Using the comms and hailing screens, you can direct the warp station to line up with one of the connecting stations in the long range warp network. Once the station is fully aligned it will activate, and a warp portal will open. The Pilot simply needs to fly into the portal to finish the transaction. You can refund the transaction and realign the station before you fly into it if necessary.

NPC DIALOGUE

53.png

You can approach any NPC on stations or planets and initiate a dialogue with them by pressing “R”. Most will have something quick to say, but some can be a vast resource of information.

Some NPCs are merchants willing to sell and buy items to support their businesses. To trade with NPC merchants, start a dialogue and click on the trade option to open the trading menu. The trading menu is similar to the ship components trading menu, except this menu deals with personal inventory items. Keep in mind that if you are not the Captain, your funds will be limited to the crew spending pool. Remember to be considerate of others and verify with the rest of the crew before making a big purchase.

CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION

50.png

To customize your appearance, go to the “Appearance” section in the main menu. While in game, you can customize your appearance by standing inside “Barber” kiosks located at major stations and planets.

There are three races in the game—human, Sylvassi, and robot. Each race has its own advantages and disadvantages:

  • Humans are vulnerable to all hostile and zero-oxygen environments and must wear exosuits when exposed to such conditions or they will take damage. However, they can be brought back to life once per sector if a nearby crewmember revives them before they respawn in a regeneration atrium.

  • Sylvassi are immune to cold and zero-oxygen environments. They also have a personal cloaking ability that allows them to go invisible for a short time. However, Sylvassi are extremely susceptible to fire.

  • Robots are immune to all hostile environments except for extreme radiation. However, they start with lower amounts of health and can’t heal by consuming food items. They can be healed only through consuming special items, another crewmember using a repair tool on them, or by standing in the regeneration atrium.

Your customized settings save for male human, female human, Sylvassi, and robot variants, so if you switch genders and/or races, you won’t have to recreate the look you had last time.

ADDITIONAL ENEMY UI

During a fight, if an enemy vessel is damaged enough it may attempt to warp out. The vessel will begin charging its warp drive, the progress of which will be indicated by a swirling circle with a number showing the percentage charged.

Damaged vessels may also send out a distress signal to call for backup, signified by the red diamond icon above the shield integrity bar. If the vessel is not defeated quickly, another enemy vessel may warp into the sector.
